Overwhelming and charismatic pilot of flashing race. Been born like James Simon Wallis Hunt the 29 from August of 1947 in Belmont (Surrey), one was not interested especially in the cars until, when he was 18 years old, a friend took to Silverstone. That night communicated its family who was going to be champion of the world and left parked his projected medicine studies.

With a March 731 of Hesketh Racing, Hunt obtained its first point of Formula 1 in 59e Grand Prix de France. It happened in his second presentation of F1 (MV*)
In 1967 it competes with a BMC Mini Cooper S and makes Ford formula the year following (Russell-Alexis, Merlyn), to happen to formula III in 1969 with an old Brabham BT21. It followed there, polishing the impetuous style of pilotage that had made him acquire the nickname of Hunt the Shunt, and in 1971 already it could have individual March official to formulas III and II. After 16 serious accidents, its conduction is made gradually less does violence to, more fluid; every time it takes advantage of better the resources the car and the track. In 1972 Lord Alexander Hesketh is protected by the sponsoring mantle of the patron, who makes him make debut in formula I in 1973 on a March 731-G modified by engineer Harvey Postlethwaite (1943-1999). Finally it can confirm his talent: 6º in France, 4º in Great Britain (with fast return), 3º in Holland, 2º in the USA (returned fast). At the end of the season, in which it is devoted like great revelation, he is 8º, and either one thinks about him like successor of the champion just retired Jackie Stewart, next to stars in rise Peterson and Lauda, besides Fittipaldi - or champion in 1972.

James Hunt flies in his Hesketh 308 Ford Cos. 3,0 DFV V8. The legendary car nº 24 was made notice in the seasons of 1974 and 1975 (MV*)
Lord Hesketh makes construct a formula I for its Golden Delicious ones I go; with him, Hunt will gain “ Daily Express ” International Trophy, will repeat result at the end of the year (8º of the championship 1974, with three put 3os and 4º) and will secure his first victory in 1975 (GP of Holland, unique victory of a Hesketh of formula I), beating to Lauda in a race in which the fury by intelligence replaces, and finishing 4º in the championship, after Lauda, Fittipaldi and Reutemann.

The consecration of James happened the 24 of October of 1976 in track Fuji the Mount. There third party to 1 return of the winner Mario Andretti finished (Lotus/Ford) (MV*)
The money of the patron is run out, but to James no longer it needs to him to clock on and off by a sharpshooting equipment. In 1976, with McLaren-Ford, it wins in Brands Hatch (Race of Champions, nonpuntuable) before gaining 6 victories and the championship of the world, after several eventful journeys that include the penalty of a victory, its later reclassification and a dramatic end in the Grand Japanese Prix: under the infernal heavy shower, Hunt will beat by a point to a handicapped Lauda, who, without eyelashes as a result of the burns of their recent accident, will be incapable to lead in similar climatic conditions.

[On the other hand, James supported bad the intense heat that invades cockpit of a single-seater. In 1973 it was invited to lead a Shadow/UOP Dog-A.m. in Elkhart Lake, but it left, exhausted by the hardness of the conduction of the two-seater as much as by the heat, and had to be evacuated in stretcher. Later, among others systems, would try to swear in the danger of dehydration (and its consequent cardiac failure) with an original network of recirculantes tubes of liquid cold integrated in their non-flammable underclothes.]

James, an eternal Bohemian who never worried about what will say. Here talking with another legend, Canadian Gilles Villeneuve (MV*)
Once fulfilled its promise of adolescent, the ambition of James seems to be deflated a little. It will run in 1977 with McLaren (3 victories, 5º in the championship) and for Wolf next; but, untimelily, it will make the decision to retire to average season 1979, lacking one of motivation and, surely, very affected by the death of Ronnie Peterson. Practically, it will not have been explayado hardly in no other specialty that formula I, where, in 92 Grands Prix, would reap the 10 victories that we have seen and 179 points.

Without a doubt, enormous stress suffered in the conduction to the limit of the most falsified automobiles of competition, added to the one of a life deprived without brake, wore away prematurely its generous heart. James Hunt died in London of a cardiac crisis Tuesday 15 of June of 1993, without getting to turn the 46 years
