Stefan Bellof had been born in Giessen the 20 from November from 1957, beginning in karting. Champion of Germany of Ford formula crowned itself in 1980, being 3º in the one of formula lll of the year following and running in 1982 with the formula ll of team Maurer, that used BMW motors (2 victories). He soon arranged the single-seaters with the sport one, with which he obtained excellent results, like the 3 victories gained in season 1983, seconded by the Derek specialist Bell, on board Porsche 956 (1,000 Kilometers of Silverstone, Mount Fuji and Kyalami). Endorsed by Bell, Stuck or Watson, in 1984 he won in the 1,000 Kilometers of Monza, NürburgRing, Spa, Imola, Mount Fuji and Sandown Park.
