The Ferrari equipment has demonstrated to its impressive forcefulness when obtaining overwhelming one-two again during the Great Prize of San Marino. The house of Maranello seems to have retaken the superiority that it owned during the first date in Australia, difference that fell in Malaysia with the triumph of the Williams de Ralf Schumacher, but that could be retaken in Brazil with another victory of Schumacher, although the difference with the Williams no longer was so much.
“There are many proud reasons to be today. We fail the past year here and now we have given back something to them to the tifosis. It has been a Great special Prize for me and I am contented by how it has gone. It has been good that Rory Byrne was in podio. Of course, this result is not all merit his, since it is an equipment effort, but he is the main designer. We did not hope to be so dominant and hoped that the race was more complicated. Bridgestone has produced a tire that is more consistent and, although the victory has been altogether, great part of the merit is his”, said Michael.
In San Marino Schumacher it did not leave nor the rest to his rivals. It dominated the training, it gained the classification and it gained the race. In order to seal the success of Ferrari, Rubens Barrichello finished second in its debut with the F2002. The Brazilian luckily could cut the bad luck persecuted that it from Melbourne.
In spite of the joy of the tifosis on the end, the race in if she were one of most boring of the last years. Without ambles between the competitors, almost all distanced to each other, with very few alternatives during the development of the same. With the exception of released and the resupplies in boxes, the rest offered a monotonous spectacle excessively.
The starting of the race did not show incidents, unlike which it happened in last the three races. Allan McNish could not release with its Toyota by electronic problems retiring of the track without at least to have journeyed a meter of track. “Right after the started one of the race I lost impulse and I could not go forwards for anything. I did not have another option more than to do me to a side and luckyly nobody was catched in this”, commented the Scot.
Schumacher conserved the first position, whereas Ralf Schumacher was able to gain the put second to him to Rubens Barrichello. The rest completed without problems the “s” of Tamburello. Schumacher very instantaneously began to remove difference to its Ralf brother.
Per moments the difference was so well-known that it was considered that the Ferrari would pause in two or three opportunities, whereas the Williams could get to decide on a single halting. With passing of the race, it was demonstrated that as much Ferrari as Williams had identical strategies.

When finally it was able to resupply itself, Heidfeld exceeded the terminal velocity in the street boxes and was sanctioned with “stops and follows”. “I thought that it had called me to the equipment by the radius for my first shutdown, but was that no. So when I arrived at the Pits nothing was ready, and I had to enter three returns later. Soon I received a penalty to happen through Pits without stopping to exceed the speed limit in the street boxes”, said Heidfeld.
Meanwhile the first abandonments followed one another. Takuma Sato rolled very little with its Jordan until pausing with problems in the transmission, whereas his Fisichella companion also left. The Irish equipment crossed a black weekend. Their cars rendered very little in classification and race, and besides being slow they left with mechanical problems.
Also Heinz-Harald Frentzen with problems in its Arrows-Cosworth left when 11º circulated. His coequiper Enrique Bernoldi also I know retired when they hardly lacked 12 returns to conclude the race. Arrows will have to work to look for the necessary trustworthiness of a23 much.
On the other hand Barrichello also suffered when it tried to surpass the straggler Eddie Irvine. The Irish I on two ocassions did not do the easy life to the Brazilian blocking it. When Barrichello finally was able to surpass to Irvine, this it was thankful for its attitude greeting it with its forefinger…
The first halting for the leaders was realized in turn 31. Michael Schumacher and Ralf Schumacher entered simultaneously, whereas Barrichello did the own thing later entering a return to return to track in front of the Williams de Ralf. Once again the work of the Ferrari equipment went superior to the one of Williams.
As well, the Briton Jenson Button entered between the six first with a reliable Renault. Trulli that circulated in front of the English in the first part of the race, went delaying until being surpassed Villeneuve and Massa on the end.
With 16 returns to conclude the Great Prize, Schumacher entered for his second and last halting. His Barrichello companion, who entered a return later, underwent smaller problems in the left back wheel. The Brazilian lost some seconds but he reached to maintain the second location to him.
With fresh rubber, Schumacher completed with extreme facility the total distance of the race to adjudge to the victory nº 56 of its file. Barrichello finished to second a 17 seconds of the Tetracampeón, whereas Ralf completed podio of San Marino.
The Montoya Colombian reached the fourth position, whereas Button finished fifth and Coulthard sixth. For Williams this has not been its race. Both FW24 of Schumacher and Montoya did not render as it were expected during the training, classification and race. As consolation the English equipment rescued seven points for the Glass of constructors.
Button realized an outstanding action with the Renault. The Briton until the moment added points in three of the four disputed races. Whereas his companion, the Italian Jarno Trulli, not yet has added points. “I am very, very contented by this result. The single-seater has been extremely consistent, which has allowed me to attack all the short while. I am satisfied to finish in front of a McLaren. It has been my better race of the season”, said Button.
The seventh position of Villeneuve does not say much but he is rescatable. The Canadian finished the animated race more and with hopes of which the single-seater continues progressing. His Panis companion was not so lucky retiring to 18 returns of the end.
Formula 1 will return to appear within two weeks for the Great Prize of Spain, where Williams hopes to shorten the enormous distance that Ferrari obtained during this Great Prize.
