Formula 1
31 of January
The BMW equipment Williams F1 Team has presented/displayed in today its flaming denominated single-seater FW25 with which it will try to win to the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro in season 2003 of Formula 1. The launching took place in the Circuit de Catalonia.
Its structure is totally innovating. The FW24 presents/displays reduced dimensions more than their predecessor. The BMW motor was denominated P83 and tries to continue with its dominion in power. Next we offer the expectations and objectives to them that try the main ones implied in the set of Grove.
The head of the equipment, Sir Frank Williams, raised the objectives of the equipment for this year.
“We are completely determined preparations well and to arrive at the top. We have a new and innovating chassis as product of a form completely different to think. And with the P83, BMW has developed another new and more powerful motor. In Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher we have to two winning pilots suitably supported by a skillful equipment and it jeopardize. Mainly, we have been very made an impression by the advances in performance given by Michelin during the winter”, said Williams.
The technical director of the equipment, Patrick Head, assures that it is a totally new car even though that was based on the FW24.
“The chassis has little of the previous cars. The strategy is based less on the iteration, and instead of that, it has called to the generation of new ideas. The 2002 demonstrated to us that our chassis was a reliability model, but that still is space to improve, particularly in the front of the aerodynamics. It is why the FW25 is a totally new car of races. The past season already we had the opportunity to verify the reliability of our chassis, but also it was clear that there was margin for the improvement, mainly in the aerodynamic aspect. For that reason the FW25 is a completely new car”, said Head.
The designer of the FW25, Gavin Fisher, explains to that he wanted to arrive when constructing it.
“the FW25 reflects our long innovating tradition as far as the design of the chassis and the transmission, that maintains to us like the leaders of Formula 1 in that section. In addition, we have worked elbow elbow with the engineers of BMW to make sure that the new P83 motor adapted perfectly to the dimensions of the car. It is difficult to give specific data for obvious reasons, but it is evident that the FW25 is shorter than their predecessor, the FW24. In terms of aerodynamics we have tried to apply our new philosophy and of there the new visual appearance of the car”, Fisher said.
The director of BMW, Mario Theissen, assures that the P83 motor will be but the powerful one of the category.
“To obtain our goals we have constructed a still more powerful motor in Munich. In addition, we were first in proving it in the track, and even as soon as the past year. BMW P83, like its two predecessors, is designed to be the most powerful motor of Formula 1”, said Theissen.
The sport director of BMW, Gerhard Berger, raised the objectives drawn up by the German house.
“He would enchant to maintain the demonstrated level the past season to Us in the qualification sessions, mainly considering the new format. But over everything we are arranged to gain more victories and to raise podio assiduously more. We must try to arrive until the height of the equipment that we have ahead, although without losing of view which they follow to us”, Berger said.
The ones in charge to pilot this beauty will be Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher, whereas the Spanish Marc Gené is the main one ordered of the test.
“My last victory was in September of 2001. I am in favor thirsty of others and I hope that this car me of the opportunity to obtain it”, said Montoya.
“We must overcome more races this year. The equipment will have to benefit to us as much with the greater yield as to Juan Pablo. Accidents as the one of Indianapolis will not return to repeat itself”, said Schumacher.
