Formula 1
5 of February
The Dutch equipment Spyker presented/displayed its brilliant new model F8-VII, with which it will take part in the championship from the world of Formula 1 2007. The Dutch Christijan Albers and the German of Uruguayan origin Subtle Adrian are the official pilots.
“We are conscious that the first part of the season can be complicated for the equipment, but with the stability that offers Spyker to us, we have found the direction suitable and we are going to concentrate in it”, explained the head of the equipment, Colin Kolles. “We know that Spyker wants to make a new project and have already marked different changes to do around the equipment. One of the first steps has been to bring to Mike Gascoyne so that it leads our equipment and it helps to find the way us correct.”
The new technical person in charge of Spyker, Mike Gascoyne, added: “Since I arrived at Spyker three months ago, I have been studying the technical department to locate in its place to the personnel, the procedures and the resources that will offer an equipment structure to us. We have already doubled to our aerodynamic resources with a second wind tunnel and an equipment dedicated to it in Italy. Like equipment, we are drawing up a future plan to be able to count on one better structure than it prioritizes the most important aspects and than it offers gradual improvements to us. I am wishing to be able to see the changes in the second part of the season when we count on specification B of the car.”
“We drew up a plan to improve in the areas in which we knew that it was necessary to improve the M16”, James Key explains the Technical Director. “Also we have worked in the best adaptation for the new tires, as well as in the aerodynamic section, that by all means is something fundamental.”
“In the mechanical aspect we have maintained a chassis quite high, since we thought that it offered the possibility of being improving the aerodynamics.”
Inevitably, the change of motor also has centered the attention of the equipment: “The installation of the Ferrari motor was very different from the one from its predecessor, so it leaves from the personnel who already was working in other aspects had to put itself to work in the installation of the motor. For example, the hydraulic section form leaves from our responsibility. The part of back of the chassis is very different, the design of the gear box also and the fuel system also requests other things. It is not that the installation in if of the motor has been complicated, but for us the configuration in comparison with our two previous motors is very different.”
In the presentation of new Spyker F8-VII, Dutch pilot Albers it commented: “As pilot always you want to go to the maximum, but the past year I could not, although always I gave everything what had”, explained Christijan. “I have worked closely with the equipment during the winter to help to improve in the areas in which we needed plus it and enough I am satisfied with which in the second part of the next season we will begin to see the improvements. To count on Mike Gascoyne in the equipment and other additional resources demonstrates that everything in this equipment goes in serious and that the objective is to progress. We counted on some good developments and already we will see still more in the second part of the year.”
“It is a magnificent sensation”, commented Subtle on the other hand. “It is very tuna to comprise of this equipment like titular pilot. My objective is to work next to the equipment and to progress with them. I want to help to develop the car and to go forwards. Also desire to know the circuits and to soak to me to the maximum than is the F1 on the inside. Not only one is to pilot, exists a great pressure, the mass media, but everything is going to be new for me, so there will be to go step by step. First that I want to do it is to begin to roll and to accumulate kilometers with the car.”
The new single-seater will roll tomorrow in the drawn up one of Silverstone.
