CART
30 of June
Today the CART Grand Prix de Chicago in the oval of Motor Chicago Speedway in Cicero was carried out. Where the pilot of Fernandez Racing Shinji Nakano registered his better result in CART when finishing the competition in fifth place, whereas Fernandez who started in sixth place, finished in 13 after having had problems with the brakes of their Honda/Lola/Bridgestone.
Shinji Nakano that started in position 16, today did a great work during the race along with its equipment, who did a very clean work in the shutdowns in pits. Nakano handled a consistent race and was outside problems in the incidents of the track and the result was very positive for the equipment of #52 Alpine/Mitsuba.
For Adrián Fernandez the day was difficult. It started in sixth place and it followed in that position until his second shutdown in pits, but unfortunately a return later had to return to enter pits with problems the brakes. Fernandez returned to the competition, but already with eight returns back of the leader. The Mexican managed to finish to the race in treceavo place.
The winner of the competition was Christian gives Matta, followed of his Dark brown compatriot Junqueira and Dario Franchitti. With this result, He gives Matta extends his advantage like leader of the championship with 95 points.
Adrián Fernandez, #51 Tecate/Quaker State/Telmex Honda/Lola/Bridgestone: “I am in favor very contented of Shinji and very frustrated by us. Still not well that it was what happened with my car. The car was rather well and but for the problem of brakes we would have finished above. One of these days is going to happen.”
Shinji Nakano, #52 Alpine/Mitsuba Honda/Lola/Bridgestone: “Today good day was. There were errors nor no problems. The equipment did a great work today looking for a better adjustment in the car. We battled yesterday enough with the adjustment, but my engineer (Martin I stopped) worked very hard. Starting in penultimate place, but the car felt very well and we obtained a good result. We have much been battling with the completions in the car and have had many mechanical problems. But in the last races the problems have been lessen. The result is good for the equipment and I feel very contented.”
Tom Anderson, Partner and Director of the equipment: “Of the side of #51 with Adrián we had a problem with back caliper of the brake. We made guards but obvious they were not sufficiently high because she bent. It was a problem of design in the factory, so we must check where it was the error, without any guilt for that was working in it. We think that already was than safe more, but obvious was not thus. Unfortunately with this we cleared the opportunity to him to Adrián to obtain a good result, after it had worked very hard along with its engineer Don Halliday to have a good car. This must be neat before Toronto.”
“Of the side of Shinji, it was a great day. Shinji handled very well all the day and its equipment did a great work in its four shutdowns in pits and that demonstrates that Fernandez Racing is an equipment that is raising.”
